Spain relies on recycling of fresh fruit and vegetables
As reported by Fresh Plaza, current end almost all fruit and vegetables, not intended for human consumption, the landfills of the Autonomous Community of Basque Country (CAPV) – each year more than 7,000 tons. In the manufacturing sector the amount food amount is unknown. A preliminary investigation of AZTI-Tecnalia, created by the Office of Environmental Quality of the Basque Government (DMAOT) noted the health, technical and economic possibilities of the use of food components that are currently treated as municipal trash.
Too much waste in food processing? Recycling through the use as animal feed! This is the proposed solution to the clean-feed “project, a program that was proposed by the Office for Agricultural Innovation and Industry of the Basque government, technological centers AZTI-Tecnalia and Fatronik-Tecnalia, along with Elika-Basque Foundation for Food Safety.
The goal is to design an action plan to test and validate to evaluate this vegetable waste parts produced by the food conversion and distribution sectors.
